Upon graduating from I.S. 171 in June 1983, I attended
Franklin K. Lane H.S. (’cause I had no other choice!) Much to
my surprise, I loved every minute of it. My favorite teacher
in 171 was Mr. Smith (7th grade, English/homeroom), and in Lane,
Mr. Stanley Nussbaum (photography) and Mr. Radman (math).
During my senior year, I was accepted into the Co-operative
Education Program which allowed students to study one week and
work the following week - full-time, with pay. I graduated from Lane
in ’87 and truly miss “those good old days.”
I knew that if I went to college straight out of high school, I
would not appreciate it and would not excel to my fullest potential.
Consequently, I worked in the commercial industry and later in the
medical field. I didn’t enjoy the medical field and left it
for academia. I was blessed to starting working at New York
University which grants partial tuition remission.
